Partner Spotlight: Red Wing Shoe Company’s Commitment to Youth Mentorship

RiseUp Red Wing is proud to partner with Red Wing Shoe Company, who has supported our organization through financial donations, mentorship, and donations of shoes.

Kim Lyons, the Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at Red Wing Shoe Company, shared her thoughts on the impact of this incredible partnership:

Shelley, a Red Wing Shoe Company employee and RiseUp Red Wing mentor and Board member, shared:

“Mentoring has been extremely fulfilling to me. I was hesitant to commit to mentoring because I was concerned about the time commitment, but it works out to be two hours per month, and [Red Wing Shoe Company] has been extremely supportive of this volunteer effort. There is a topic and/or activity for each meeting, which really makes it easier to get to know your mentee. And it is eye-opening to see how engaged and appreciative the youth are for this connection. This is my third year with my mentee and we have developed a great bond and friendship that extends outside of the structured mentoring schedule. It has been fantastic to see how she has grown and matured these past few years. I would highly recommend mentoring with RiseUp Red Wing.”
